Poses: the musical
Lifetime presents: poses
Are you there, God? It's me, poses.

SO, yeah. Here it is, my hand-written poses thingy. It's not really a how-to or tutorial, because the truth is, posing isn't something you can mimic step-by-step, it's a style of drawing. You can learn it, but only through doing. So I tried to include a few different methods (scribbling, action lines, emotion,) because no one learns the same.

But yeah, just remember, you don't have to use that stupid skeleton if you don't want to. (If you want to, go for it.) You can scribble away and pop open a new layer to do your more official lines on. Messy is your friend!

I have no idea if this is helpful in any way, shape, or form. I've never taken an art class, not really, so I don't really know how to teach. BUT I REALLY WANT TO HELP PEOPLE WHO NEED HELP, so here are those links I promised:

If you can't afford life drawing classes, or nudity makes you uncomfortable, or you staring at people in a coffee shop makes you uncomfortable, or asking a friend to pose is uncomfortable, or all of the above, do not fear! Quickposes is a good place to find figures and poses to sketch and practice with: [link]

Also, here's another one for you. The whole blog is relevant, but this post has good posing resources: [link]

So yeah! If this is helpful, I'm going to try my hand at doing one on faces next? Does that sound like a waste of everyone's time, orrrr...

This is very helpful! But instead of the skeleton you said not to do, what do we do instead? Sorry if you've mentioned already on the tutorial, it's just through no fault of your own that I'm having a little bit of trouble reading it. :)
